Hello my friends,

I have a piece of roadkill lying on the bed at this moment. Gabriel wanted to ride this week because he was getting pretty bored riding in the Sag wagon.  The only problem was that the extra bike only became available today which turned out to be one of our heaviest climbing days. 

We entered Vermont this morning and are in the Green Mountains so we have climbed 5900 feet today.  Now, this is a big day for all of us who have been riding for seven weeks, so you can imagine how this day descended upon Handsome Gabriel--like a ton of bricks. 

He had said all week it would probably work out that the bike would be available today and so be it--it was.  He did make 50 of the 76 miles; climbed two BIG hills and gained the admiration and respect of all for just trying!!!!  In return, he certainly gained a lot of respect for what all of us have been doing every day--he knew but today really got to experience what it felt like. 

I can certainly see how I have progressed while on the tour as I did the 76 today with a still partiallly sore leg but actually did some pretty good climbing.  And, I don't feel like roadkill this evening--I have at times--believe me.  No matter how strong we have gotten, 70- 80- 90 miles is still a lot of pedaling!!

The roads are very nice here in Vermont so that is always appreciated and the skys were very black this afternoon but we got lucky again and didn't get wet. 

Have to run now to a rehearsal for a kit for the banquet tomorrow night--Love, Patricia

Comment from Gabriel: P.S.  Road kill is not the word for it ! When I got picked by Josh in the van I was dead!!! I climbed one of the toughest days and paid the price. My neck hurts ,my BUTT hurts, I have cramps in my legs, arms, and feet. I tried to do it all the way but I guess with out the training is not a good idea..

Patricia and this gang are all awesome!!!  Well I will lay down as I am still trying to get rid of the stars flashing in my eyes. I will swallow my pride and ride in the van tomorrow. The finish is NEAR!! A police escort will be taking them to the finish line Monday.
