What a Ride: Gabriel Gonzales, my
old pal from when he was chief honcho at GM Automotive, says his wife, Patricia Starr,
will ride her bike across America to raise money for City College performing arts
scholarships. At 67, she's attempting to set a Guinness record as the oldest woman to make this trip. Her goal: $22,000. If 300 people pledge 2 cents a mile, she figures she'll make the goal. (It's a 3,622-mile ride and no, I can't do the math and if I could, maybe I'd get a scholarship.) She'll start June 20 and plans to ride for 50 days, averaging 80 miles a day.
