About Boise Idaho
Boise in the fall Boise, the State Capital, is also the county seat of Ada County. The city is situated on the Boise River on I-84, in the southwestern part of the state. The wood-lined river was a welcome sight for French-Canadian trappers who were grateful to reach a forest again, after trudging across the territory's treeless plain. They named the area Boise, meaning "wooded." The "City of Trees" was founded in 1863, a year after a gold rush reached the Boise Basin. That year the first sessions of the territorial government were held in Lewiston, then moved to Boise in 1864. The new territorial capital was the commercial and cultural magnet for miners and traders from nearby boom towns. Above photo & text courtesy of Online Highways

Photos The photos below were taken at a town named "Star" enroute to Boise. Patricia with Star Firemen Friendly youngsters in Star Extra "R" in STARR added by www.photoenhancers.com |
Comments from Patricia Good Day To All, As we left Ontario this am we were riding through real farming country with rolling hills, potatoes, onions, lettuce--several kinds and other assorted goodies. We rode by a herd of bison(about 30 of them) that must be grown for eating purposes as they were fenced in like cows'. We also came along just after a colt had been born and Mom was still trying to get it to stand up. The riding was really good as we were on country roads and no traffic noise to contend with--went through several small towns. Then in the afternoon. I rolled up to the town of Star so stopped and called Gabriel--he hadn't caught up with me yet so I just waited there for him so we could take pictures. We got some great ones at the fire dept. because it was Star Fire District and we call my red bike "Starfire"--how perfect can that be. Gabriel went into the station and found a couple of firemen that were available for picture taking so we had fun with the name. After that I rolled into Boise--it's really a beautiful city and we had been routed through residentiall, by the golf course etc. so it was gorgeous.
When we got to the capitol building which is so beautiful we stopped to take pictures and there was a really nice Trooper there by the name of John Burke so we got a picture with him and he told us to come back tomorrow
and go on in to see the Gov. if we could catch him so we are going to try. This was a 60 plus mile day so not too strenuous--everything sure is relevant--we're ridden 8 days in a row now so we are all ready for our day off here in beautiful Boise. Bye for now--Love, Patricia and Gabriel
