| July 2nd, Day 12 | Twin Falls Idaho to Burley Idaho | Mileage Today = 38 Total Mileage = 799 |
About Burley Idaho & Snake River Plain Most of Idaho is very mountainous, but most visitors would never know it because most Idahoans live on, and most used travel routes cross, the Snake River Plain, a huge largely-flat crescent that extends from near the Oregon/Idaho border on the west almost to Yellowstone National Park to the northeast. Even though the plain is the most populated part of Idaho, vast expanses on it have almost no one as the photographs below show. |

Comments from Patricia Hi Everyone--We feel like we have the day off today because we only had 38 miles to do. Got here before noon and we actually had route rap at 8 a.m. so no one left early today. Beautiful farmland here and saw so many fields that are being irrigated so they are so green and beautiful. Some cows but not as many as yesterday. We saw the gorge several times today also as we rode along the Snake River at various times. They were able to keep us off the freeways today and on frontage roads so the riding is calm and peaceful but some places there just aren't choices. Because it was a short day today Mike, the leader, had another workshop for us. We had one a couple of days ago on flat tires--can you imagine there is enough to talk about flats that it lasts one and a half hours?? Well, it's true. There is a lot to learn and of course they are a way of life on the road. I have had four so far and I think I've been pretty lucky!! Today the workshop was on the gears, drive-chain and derailers etc.and how to properly care for everything that moves in the bike. Because this was a short day, we all had a scavenger hunt today ; divided up into teams and after dinner tonight had a contest to see who had the most items and the most imaginative so that was fun. My team didn't win but we weren't far behind. Another surprise today--a piano in the conference room where we had dinner--this is only the second one we've seen since we left home so I did Rhapsody in Blue for everyone so that was really fun. My fingers still work--sort of!! Bye for now, Love, Patricia
