| July 4th, Day 14 | Blackfoot Idaho to Idaho Falls Idaho | Mileage Today = 38 Total Mileage = 944 |
About Idaho Falls Idaho I daho Falls is located in the heart of some of the world's best known recreation areas including Yellowstone and Grand Teton National parks, Targhee, Sun Valley, Henry's Lake, Craters of the Moon, the Sawtooths, Island Park, Jackson Hole, and several national forests.Idaho Falls is the county seat of Bonneville County in the eastern part of Idaho and is a regional center for shopping, education, medical care, and cultural activities. Idaho Falls owes its existence to the river and the railroad. It sits astride the mighty Snake River in Eastern Idaho, Bonneville County. It was and is a crossroads, a resting place for travelers on their way to other places. Just as traders, freighters, and pioneers used the town's early bridges to cross the Snake River on their way to someplace else, modern day travelers stop here on their way to close by vacation spots. While here, the traveler finds a modern beautiful city with many activities to delight the vacationer, businessman, and resident alike. Above text and Photo courtesy of USA City Link |

Comments from Patricia We all felt like a bunch of little kids today with the day off. We only had 38 miles to ride today and after the 110 of yesterday, we were ready. The entire ride was through the countryside following the Snake River which is just gorgeous. You can now understand why people sell their homes elsewhere and move here for probably 1/8 the price of homes in Santa Barbara, to buy a home with a view of the beautiful river--however, this is summer and winter is another matter. When we got to Idaho Falls, we were astounded with the beauty of the river as they had dammed it up to make "waterfalls" right in the middle of the stream. My comment about the noise from the rushing and crashing water was how different and pleasing the noise is compared to the noise on the busy roads that we sometimes have to ride on. The city calls this it's "green belt" and has made parks, walkways, etc. right along the river--it's easy to see what can be accomplished with a little imagination.
