| July 10th, Day 20 | Casper Wyoming to Lusk Wyoming | Mileage Today = 106 Total Mileage = 1425 |
About Lusk, Wyoming The coming of the railroad to Lusk made this town a central shipping point for livestock and crops. Oil discoveries in the early 1900s brought an economic boom to the area but it was short lived. There is still some oil activity in the region surrounding Lusk. Today, Lusk is primarily an agricultural and ranching town. Visit the Stagecoach Museum for outstanding exhibits from the region's past. The museum also contains Indian artifacts and rock collections

Comments from Gabriel Today was hell! 106 miles of lots of nothing as far as the eye can see. I caught up with Patricia about 11:30. She was frantic, hot tired and lonely as everyone else was far gone. She had tears in her eyes, as the heat and headwind were just about unbearable. I know she needed me earlier but It was necessary for me to get things for the long stretches, specifically her fuel, yogurts, food, soy milk crackers, etc.. I got her settled down and off she went. This ride was real hard today due to that wind. It slows her down so much and makes her work twice as hard, but she is tough!! She then ran directly in to a lighting storm right before coming in to Lusk about 30 miles out. This one hit the ground, so we stopped and waited it out. It poured rain, then it cleared after about 30 minutes. It was still cloudy but looked safe. We saw lots of wild antelope and rabbits along the way. There are many abandoned farms and small towns with a population of 10 or less. It doesn't look to bad out here now, but they say that snow is a way of life. Property is cheap, $60 -$120 K can get you a pretty nice house, if you don't mind living in 0 -30 below zero temperatures with high winds. They say there is a total population in Wyoming of 450,000 and I can see why. Peace to you all, Love Gabriel & Patricia
